A push with a purpose

At times in life we undergo through hard times, through tough moments, through difficulty situations, through big storms and calamities that eventually kill our hope, and finally feel that there isn’t a reason to continue living anymore. For instance: A breakup, rejection, loses of job, unemployment, domestic issues, death, rape, diseases E.t.c. However, these hardships sometimes appear to be pushes that finally lead to our destinations. In the holy bible some people under went through harsh moments but it was through these rough situations that to the end pushed them to their destinations.

  • *     The children of Israel before crossing the Red sea, pharaoh was heavily pursuing them with his chariots while at the other end the Red sea was blocking their way through. It was through this terrifying push from pharaoh that led the children of Israel witness one of the greatest wonders of God, dividing the Red sea and letting them pass on dry grounds whereas the philistines perished at the end.
  • *      About Joseph, he was hated by his brothers, who ended up selling him to the Egyptian traders, taken to prison and lastly pharaoh makes him a ruler of all Egypt and saved people including his family by selling grain during the famine.
  • *      Jonah was cast into the sea but God had great plans for him. He was swallowed by a great fish and vomited on dry ground. Jonah finally prophesied the downfall of Nineveh, the people repented and city was saved.

Therefore, no matter how things get worse or hard times and situations push in your life. Just know that there is a purpose behind that push and that God has better plans for you. Though the outcome may not unveil today or tomorrow, but by patient and humility God will take you towards your destiny like his servants: David, Jesus, Jonah, Israelite s, and Joseph E.t.c.

Never give up; never give in; stand up to it; fight the push and God will aid you throughout because he created you with a purpose, and don’t forget to believe in yourself, in your life, in humanity and in your God all over your journey. Knowing that everything will always push you to your destination.
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”  1 Peter 5:10

Effective Time-management

“He who every morning plans the transactions of the day, and follows out that plan, carries a thread that will guide him through the labyrinth of the most busy day. The orderly arrangement of his time is like a ray of light which darts itself through all his occupations…”
It’s essential to balance one’s life roles holistically. Every person plays many roles in life. The most important are: family, personal relationships, spiritual, social, career, financial, education and physical. Compromise to one of these will eventually compromise the others.

Since we often experience times as fleeting, frenetic and pressured, it’s imperative to manage the time we have effectively in our rapidly changing world. The greatest single time-management tool is to set clearly defined goals. This gives focus and direction to planning and facilitates the establishment of priorities. Effective time-management will allow you to feel positive and achieve a state of balance and harmony in mind, body and soul.

Using time to your best advantage is a skill that can be developed. The key is to start taking control. This will allow you to start taking control. This will allow you to start planning your life, instead of letting events determine it. Decide what needs to be done and begin the process by focusing on the tasks that have to be tackled. Organizing and prioritizing your daily activities is critically important if you want to achieve your goal.

The first step for effective time-management is to be aware of how you presently use your time, by keeping a record of how you spend each hour of the day is extremely useful. This will help you gain insight into your current patterns of time-management. This also means including time for yourself. You may want to attend a gym, visit a friend, see a movie or visit the library. After a week or two you can look back and see if you’ve kept to your schedule, or whether you have allowed other things to intrude.

Although one of the biggest obstacles to effective time-management is procrastination, whenever you are tempted to put something off, be totally committed to acting on it immediately.

RAPE!RAPE!RAPE!!!

It’s much shocking by the frequent incidents of rape cases happening in the slums. Rape not only is becoming a major disaster in the slums but also in other parts of the nation. Those affected mostly being from primary school girls to women. For the recent few months have heard and witnessed around four cases of rape:

In the first event two primary school girls, one at class 6 and the other at class 4, were raped overnight and on the following day, the man locked them up in the house and went to work. The second, a girl about 20 years and a mother of a 3 years son, was kidnapped at around 9:00pm coming from a shop by 7 boys and raped till late in the night. Thirdly, a girl also about 20 years of age on a bridge was thrown to the sewage to suffocate and was then raped. On the last scene, a woman was beaten nearly to death by a friend they were parting with when she resisted him. The woman was from Huruma and had come to Kibera for the party, and then the friend took advantage of that.

Though the events raise a lot of questions from the government, the community and the victims, to me, it means that there is a lot that has to be done. Despite the fact that there has been enthusiastic campaigning from many groups and NGO’s in the slums about rape, these scenes are clear indications that they are yet a thousand steps to reach at the roots of this crime.

Finally, what I think needs to be done is to create a strong cohesion between, the government, the community and other groups. This will build a conducive environment and a free society where we can communicate to one another, because silence is the main root for the increased incidents of rape in the society. If the victims will speak, the society will shout, the groups and NGO’s will talk, and lastly the Government will act and those involved in the offense will be locked up.

an honest prayer

I beseech you, O Lord God of heaven, the great and terrible God. Gracious and mercifully God.
My Goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer;
My Shield and He in whom I trust.
Give me what to say each hour and every day, and grant me the wisdom of a loving heart that I may say the right thing rightly.
Give me a mind to understand everyone who talks with me. Give me a quick eye for little kindness that I may be ready in doing them and gracious in receiving them.
O Father, give us our daily bread. Showing your lovingkindness upon my family; my relatives; my friends; my neighbors; and our leaders. Remember the sick, travelers, businessmen and everyone on their daily jobs and bless the work of their hands O, God.
Everyday teach me your ways that I may walk in truth. Unite my heart to fear your name, that I may always glorify your name forever.
Show me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed; because you Lord have helped me, and comforted me. Blessed be the Lord for evermore.
AMEN, AND AMEN.
